Brian and his wife, Vicki, ranch along with their three sons, Shane, Justin and Travis. The sons each have their own separate operations next to Brian’s, but they all help each other and work together. Brian started farming after high school with this father outside of Maddock. When he was 30, he moved to his own farm, where he ranches today. Brian is currently in the process of turning his operation over to his three sons.

Brian has 44 cow/calf pairs and yearlings. He does custom grazing and rotates his cattle daily to weekly, depending on the area and what they are doing. He started holistic management practices in the early 1990s. He has planted cropland back to grass, and installed fencing, cross fencing and water lines. He calves in June, because it provides better weather and to cut feed costs. He focuses on taking care of the grass first and stirves to be in sync with nature.
